Edinburgh International Book Festival

The book festival returns every year, and Baillie Gifford sponsors an area dedicated to children. Youngsters can look forward to a diversity of events that explore curriculum-led topics from some of the best children’s authors, illustrators and thinkers. These events allow visitors to engage with books and stories in a fun and accessible way.

The concept was based on Flying Books, which consist of vibrant contemporary visuals of an urban and suburban landscape where missing pages from the flying books will be transformed into less likely items and hidden within the artwork for children to find. Working in collaboration with the Edinburgh International Book Festival, I created bold graphics and bespoke illustrations for the children’s area. The end result was a wide-open, family-friendly space in which everyone could relax and have fun. I was pleased to see one of my banners being used after the festival to brighten a nearby school’s playground.
